New HDA Series Active Directional Antenna: pushing smart spectrum monitoring up to 20 GHz
06 / 30 2026
HAROGIC Technologies has launched the HDA-200, a next-generation handheld active directional antenna covering 500 MHz to 20 GHz. Designed for field signal hunting and spectrum monitoring, it features switchable passive and active modes, an integrated electronic compass, and real-time telemetry for accurate direction finding. When paired with HAROGIC spectrum analyzers and SAStudio software, the HDA-200 enables fast signal tracking, interference locating, and precise field strength measurements in a compact, portable form.
HAROGIC Technologies officially announced the release of the HDA-200, its next-generation handheld active directional antenna. The new HDA-200 extends its frequency coverage up to an impressive 20 GHz and introduces an integrated electronic compass to streamline field-based signal hunting and spectrum monitoring.
Breaking the 20 GHz Barrier in the Field
As modern communication networks, satellite uplinks push higher into the microwave spectrum, field engineers face the challenge of accurately tracking signals in high-frequency bands. The HDA-200 addresses this directly by providing continuous coverage from 500 MHz up to 20 GHz in a highly portable, ergonomic handheld form factor.
Featuring switchable dual-gain modes, operators can toggle between a high-linearity passive mode and an active mode utilizing an ultra-wideband internal Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) with a typical gain of 16 dBi. This ensures that even weak, distant emitters in the Ku and K bands can be captured with exceptional clarity.
Smart Directional Finding with Integrated Telemetry
The defining innovation of the HDA-200 is the integration of a internal electronic compass. The internal sensor continuously transmits real-time azimuth and tilt data directly to the host system via a single USB Type-C connection.
When paired with HAROGIC’s SAStudio spectrum analysis software, the antenna automatically plots live bearing vectors onto local mapping interfaces as the operator sweeps the horizon. This eliminates the need for manual data logging, allowing field teams to instantly heat-map, triangulate, and locate hidden interference or unauthorized transmitters in minutes rather than hours.
Deep Ecosystem Synergy
Designed to seamlessly pair with HAROGIC's ultra-compact spectrum analyzer and receivers—such as the PXE-200 or SAE-200 20 GHz spectrum analyzer—the HDA-200 automatically loads its antenna factors. This tight hardware-software synergy guarantees absolute field strength accuracy dBμV/m right out of the box, with zero manual calibration required by the operator.
Typical application
Regulatory Spectrum Monitoring & Signal Investigation: Enabling national or regional radio regulators to map the spectrum, discover unauthorized transmitters, and quickly triangulate illegal signal sources via automated mapping.
5G Microwave & Millimeter-Wave Analysis: Troubleshooting and optimizing high-frequency 5G networks, verifying beamforming vectors, and pinpointing intermodulation or localized interference.
Drone Detection: Tracking down the precise direction of commercial UAV control links, particularly those operating in newer, higher frequency bands.
Satellite Communication & Radar Surveillance: Locating uplink/downlink interference in X, Ku, and K-bands, and identifying unauthorized or malfunctioning satellite earth stations.
