HAROGIC New SAN series spectrum analyzer/receiver
1 HAROGIC new SAN overview
HAROGIC has released the new SAN Series USB spectrum analyzers and receivers, now supporting frequencies up to 9 GHz. Built on a high-performance two-stage superheterodyne (SHR) architecture, the SAN Series covers a range from 9 kHz to 4.5/6/9 GHz. With a standard 50 MHz analysis bandwidth (upgradable to 100 MHz) and a fast sweep speed of 1 THz/s (RBW = 250 kHz), this new generation offers significant advancements in sensitivity, spectral purity.
1.1 High performance SHR architecture
The SAN Series utilizes a dual-path design, employing direct sampling for low-frequency precision and a high-performance two stage SHR architecture for higher bands. To ensure signal integrity, it incorporates 14-stage preselection filters that deliver typical image and IF rejection over 95 dB. This design gives users the flexibility of a clean analog IF output for further analysis.

The SAN Series features an independently controlled preamplifier with an 80 dB gain range, enabling the precise measurement of weak signals. The system achieves an impressive typical DANL of -168 dBm/Hz at 1 GHz and -167 dBm/Hz at 9 GHz.
Spectral purity is equally refined, with a phase noise of -110 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset (1 GHz carrier), which can be further optimized to -125 dBc/Hz in dedicated phase noise mode. Furthermore, residual responses are suppressed to better than -120 dBm, with internal spurs typically maintained below -80 dBFS for a clean, reliable signal environment.

The SAN Series achieves a 100% Probability of Intercept (POI) for signals as short as 1 μs in real-time spectrum analysis mode. Driven by an onboard FPGA performing 30,000 FFTs per second alongside a rapid 1 THz/s sweep speed (RBW>=250 kHz), the instrument ensures the reliable capture of transient and hopping signals across expansive frequency spans.

Every SAN Series unit includes the all-inclusive SAStudio4 spectrum analysis software as standard. This powerful platform supports eight versatile operating modes, including Real-Time Spectrum Analysis (RTSA), IQ Streaming, and auto Phase Noise Measurement. With built-in capabilities for channel power, OBW, and AM/FM demodulation, SAStudio4 provides a complete measurement suite right out of the box. Best of all, no additional licenses are required for most measurement, ensuring you have the tools you need from day one.

1.5 Create your own RF system now
The SAN Series is built for embedded RF system, offering a comprehensive API that supports C/C++, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and GNU Radio. This ensures effortless integration into automated test environments or software defined application like spectrum monitoring.
The SAN Series combines high-end RF capabilities with an ultra-compact design. Weighing just 420 g in its standard housing, it is also available as a 195 g core module specifically engineered for seamless system integration. Whether deployed for UAV-based monitoring, tactical field testing, or high-fidelity portable signal recording, the SAN Series delivers uncompromising laboratory-grade performance in a palm-sized form factor.
